Minister of Culture of Panama

A respected cultural leader and former prima ballerina with the Ballet Nacional de Panamá, Herrera has dedicated her career to strengthening Panama’s artistic institutions and expanding access to cultural education. In addition to her work as a performer, she has contributed to the development of the arts as a choreographer, teacher and producer, playing an influential role in Panama’s cultural sector.

Before being appointed Minister of Culture in 2024 by President José Raúl Mulino, Herrera served as Director of the Instituto Nacional de Cultura (2009–2014), where she led initiatives supporting artists and strengthening cultural policy. Today she oversees major national projects including Ciudad de las Artes, while continuing to champion Panama’s artistic heritage internationally.
