Cherona Peng

Cherona Peng is the founder of Wings of Music Charity Foundation, an organization based in Hong Kong. The foundation was established in 2016 with the mission of “Changing lives with music”. With Ms. Peng’s leadership, the foundation is dedicated to providing a musical education to students from low-income families in Hong Kong. In the past two years, Ms. Peng has raised funds and reached out to more than ten local schools. As a result, nearly two hundred students have received instruction in wind and string instruments. Since the establishment of the charity more than one hundred musical instruments have been donated and six performances held on stage with world renowned musicians. Music education programs in Tuen Mun, Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai community have been funded in which more than 500 students and benefited.

In addition to material support, education has provided a new hope in eliminating “intergenerational poverty”. Musical education is an effective way to help individuals to establish self-esteem and build a confident attitude towards life. “Let every child have the opportunity to be on stage” is the belief. Ms. Peng strongly believes that with the support of charity people from all walks of life, the Foundation will help more children in grassroots families realize their dream of learning classical and other forms of music.
Ms. Peng has dedicated the past ten years to supporting music educational charities and has held various leadership roles. Ms. Peng started volunteering for Wings of Music in Beijing, one of the largest charities in China, to promote musical education for children, especially children of migrant workers who otherwise are unable to afford to learn music. While serving Wings of Music, Ms. Peng managed the marketing and coordination of numerous charity events and performances.

Prior to this Ms. Peng held various positons in marketing, public relations and communications for various organizations in Beijing. From 2008 to 2009, she lead the Marketing and Communications department of the Legation Quarter, formerly the American Legation in Beijing. Prior to this, Ms. Peng was the City Club Theatre Marketing & PR Manager for Reignwood Group. She organized the public relations campaign for the Venice Baroque Orchestra, Stars of Broadway and Grand Opening concert featuring Placido Domingo. Ms. Peng, was a Managing Director for Silo 9, a leading strategy development and implementation company between 2001 to 2006.

Before she moved back to China in 2001, Ms. Peng worked for The New York Stock Exchange, based in Tokyo and New York, as an International Listing Account Manager and assisted several large PRC companies to successfully list on the NYSE, including Sinopec, China Unicom, PCCW and CNOOC. During this role she managed marketing of NYSE’s services to major companies in Japan, Hong Kong and Mainland China. In addition, she has also been a member of the senior management team for Sekotac Canada and took leadership role in the Okabe International Group while working in Vancouver
Ms. Peng graduated from Kanagawa University in Japan with a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Management in 1993 and pursued postgraduate study in a joint program between Tsinghua & Macquarie University in 2005 to 2006.
