A pioneering parliamentarian and advocate for women’s empowerment and social justice, Baroness Uddin made history in 1998 as the youngest woman, and the first Muslim and Asian woman appointed as a Labour Peer. Throughout her career, she has been a powerful voice on issues of inclusion, equality and community engagement, including leading national initiatives supporting women and addressing the impact of extremism on communities.
Her work spans public policy, international development and emerging technologies, with active involvement in parliamentary groups focused on digital innovation, cybersecurity and global cooperation. A strong supporter of women entrepreneurs and Women, Peace and Security initiatives, she continues to champion opportunities for women and underrepresented communities both in the UK and internationally.
