
Hamid Alharthi

Hamid Alharthi leads SABIC’s global sustainability strategy, shapes international policy engagement, and drives alignment with leading environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks.
A mechanical engineer by training, Hamid holds a Bachelor’s degree from Umm Al-Qura University, a Master’s in Environmental Management and Sustainability from Monash University, and an Executive MBA from London Business School. His career combines technical expertise with strategic and commercial acumen across manufacturing, strategy, sales and marketing, and sustainability.
Prior to his current role, Hamid served as SABIC’s Country Leader for South Africa and earlier as Senior Manager of the Polymer Business Unit, where he played a key role in the polymer business integration between SABIC and Aramco. Representing Saudi Arabia, he has been active in UNFCCC climate negotiations, the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and other multilateral sustainability forums.
Hamid also serves on the Board of the Saudi Polytechnic Institute for Renewable Energy (SPIRE). His professional interests include climate change, renewable energy, governance, sustainability reporting, strategy, manufacturing, and global megatrends.
